Monday, Nov. 07, 2005 - 08:10 Sorry isn't Good Enough Hello gentle Reader. Woke from a strange dream this morning. In it, Simon had discovered – and subsequently read – my contribution to National Novel Writing Month, It's All Lies: A True Story. I guess a couple of days passed and then in the mail I received a greeting card from him. I forget exactly what it said, but it was one of those lame ’I’m sorry’ deals. But it also contained a gift voucher for a well known retail outlet of CDs and DVDs, to the value of $30.00 I held the voucher in my hand and stared at it incredulously: ’Is he serious?’, I asked myself, scarcely able to comprehend that Simon could possibly believe for one minute that a tacky greeting card and a gift voucher were going to make up for what he’d done. I flipped the envelope over and noted the return address. While I can’t recall it now, I do seem to remember that it was somewhere in the US. I placed the card and gift voucher back in the envelope and scribbled across the front of it: Return to Sender. My perspective within the dream shifted, and I was able to view Simon as he received the returned card. He looked at it blankly, turning it over in his hands as troubled expression crossed his features. And then I woke up. What was especially strange about the dream was that when I woke up, for several minutes or so, I wasn’t all that certain that this hadn’t happened In Real Life… Weird.
